Authorities in Montgomery have arrested a 56-year-old man accused of ripping his dogs from a car and abandoning them.
Briant Carter was allegedly caught on video violently abandoning his two dogs outside of an animal shelter in Walden.
“The dogs were violently ripped out of the car. Left stranded without food, water and shelter,” says acting Montgomery Police Chief Steve Wragni.
Surveillance video captured the ordeal outside of Walden Humane Society on Monday night. The video shows the animals being ripped from the back seat of a car and abandoned on Albany Post Road.
The Montgomery man is charged with two counts of animal cruelty and falsely reporting an incident.
Wragni tells News 12 the dogs were seen wandering on nearby dark roads overnight until shelter employees arrived Tuesday morning and found them.
As of now, they’re safe and in the care of Walden Humane Society.
Police say Carter has since been released on an appearance ticket.
