Monroe puts water restrictions into place because of severe drought

Monroe has joined the growing list of communities that are putting water restrictions in place because of the severe drought.

Monroe has joined the growing list of communities that are putting water restrictions in place because of the severe drought.
Officials say that because of the lack of rain, reservoir and wells continue to have reduced water levels. The residents in the Village of Monroe along with town of Monroe water districts 1,2,7,8, 10 and Smith Farm are under the mandatory restrictions.
The following restrictions are in place:
• No outside lawn watering or irrigation
• Residents are prohibited from washing their automobiles, equipment or performing other high volume outdoor water usage, including power washing of homes and properties
They also ask that residents check all faucets, toilets, showers, outdoor hose bibs are in good working order and not dripping or leaking.
Violators are subject to fines and/or disruption of the water service.
