Mom sues Bedford S.D. over daughter's alleged abuse
The mother of a 9-year-old girl is suing the Bedford School District over her daughter?s alleged abuse.
The mother, who says she knew nothing of the abuse, claims her daughter told friends that her mother's boyfriend, 27-year-old Cesar Joel Sagastume-Morales had sex with her over many months. According to the mother's attorney, the friends? parents told school officials, but they did not report the abuse to authorities as required by law.
The case left several teachers suspended and cost the principal, Victoria Graboski, her job along with the school psychologist. Criminal charges were dropped against the former principal in December, but she is now named in the lawsuit. Meanwhile, attorneys for the school district tell News 12 Westchester that there is no evidence that any abuse occurred at all.
The civil lawsuit was filed in the State Supreme Court. There's no word on whether any monetary awards are being sought or if the suit is about accountability in the school system.
