The girlfriend of missing hedge fund swindler Sam Israel III was arrested and charged Thursday with helping the convict escape on the day he was to begin a 20-year prison sentence. Representatives of the U.S. Attorney?s Office say in the days leading up to Israel?s fake suicide and disappearance, Debra Ryan helped the swindler pack up an RV with his belongings and prepare an escape plan. Ryan then allegedly drove Israel to a nearby rest area in Bedford on June 9 - the day Israel supposedly committed suicide on Bear Mountain Bridge. Israel?s body was not found near the bridge and investigators believe he is on the run.Israel was convicted of scamming investors of $450 million.Ryan was released on a $75,000 bond.
