Middletown mother rescues children in house fire
A Middletown mother was hospitalized Tuesday morning after saving her three children from a house fire.
According to a family member, Tania Santelises was making breakfast when a fire started on the stove at 18 Johns Road. Her children were sleeping at the time, and her husband was out running errands
Santelises' sister-in-law says the mother ran upstairs to get the kids, ages 6 through 10, but suffered serious burns in the process.
Family members say the children will stay with them while their mother remains hospitalized with second-degree burns.
There is no word on what caused the fire.
