A Metro-North Railroad assistant conductor from Wallkill has settled a lawsuit against the commuter railroad.

Maria Herbert sued Metro-North after the December 2013 crash in the Bronx that killed four passengers and injured dozens more. Federal investigators later determined the train was speeding around a curve and its engineer fell asleep at the helm.

Four people were killed in the derailments, three of them from the Hudson Valley.

Herbert said in the lawsuit, filed in federal court in Manhattan, that she suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder and has been unable to return to work.

Sources tell News 12 that Herbert will receive at least $830,000. AP wires were used in this report
