A Metro-North employee in Putnam is under investigation for allegedly infiltrating the Capitol Wednesday.

Will Pepe, a seven-year MTA employee, worked in Brewster and allegedly used a sick day Wednesday to take off of work. But he was caught in D.C. instead, a breach of policy, according to MTA officials.

Charges for both storming Capitol Hill and misusing sick leave are expected next week and Pepe will face a company trial in the next month.

As arrests pile up, the focus turns to President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration on Jan. 20.

A former Secret Service agent under President Bill Clinton turned local security expert says the public can expect beefed up protection.

"You can bet that there'll be a heck of a lot more layers of security including multiple federal, state and local law enforcement," said Joe Russo.

Security is already taking extra steps ahead of Jan. 20, adding more than 6,000 National Guard members, including some from New York, expanding the perimeter and putting up barriers.

An MTA senior advisor said in a statement regarding Pepe, "This alleged conduct goes against the values of Metro-North, New York, and the nation."
