A tractor-trailer and its cargo failed to clear a bridge on Route 9A in Briarcliff Manor Wednesday night, spilling heavy metal beams that hit another vehicle.
A couple in a Pontiac with Illinois license plates walked away with minor injuries after the heavy I-beams rolled onto their vehicle just before 9:30 p.m.
The tractor-trailer itself cleared the bridge, but the cargo did not. The driver was about a mile down the road before he realized he lost the cargo, authorities say.
The northbound side of Route 9A was shut down while crews cleared away the mess, backing up traffic for hours. There has been no word if any tickets were issued to the driver of the tractor-trailer.
