A mentally handicapped man was injured after falling into a pool in West Nyack Saturday.
Police say the incident happened when two mentally disabled friends wandered off from their halfway home into a house under construction on Marycrest Road.
A neighbor, Pat Bronson, heard screams coming from the residence and went over to see what happened. When he approached the pool, he saw the man being pulled out of the water by another neighbor. The victim?s mentally disabled friend was standing nearby, visibly distraught.
The two neighbors then began to administer CPR, attempting to revive the disabled man. Police say their actions may have saved the man?s life. He was later taken to Nyack Hospital, but his condition is unknown.
