Members of New York Sports Club are outraged after they say the fitness center continued to charge customers monthly fees while gyms have been closed for nearly a month.

There have been so many complaints about this that the state's attorney general is getting involved, saying the sports club is operating in an "unlawful manner."

New York Sports Club shut down all of its gyms in New York in mid-march after a state order, but continued charging customers monthly fees.

The fitness center chain responded two weeks later with a letter to members promising "credits" to accounts after gyms reopen.
But the state's attorney general wrote a letter to company leaders demanding they stop charging customers for services they are not providing.
Now the company says memberships have been frozen at no cost to members, but two avid club members reached out to News 12 and said they want to know why it took the company so long to communicate to customers and why their money wasn't refunded.

News 12 reached out to the New York Sports Club multiple times but has not heard back.
