The Westchester deputy medical examiner offered graphic testimony Thursday in the trial of a Pleasantville woman accused in the brutal murder of her mother.

Dr. Louis Roh told the jury that Patricia Mery laid dead for days in her Ossining home before her body was discovered. Prosecutors argue Mery's daughter, Anne Trovato, stabbed her with a knife and then used an aluminum baseball bat to beat her while she was dying.

Roh testified that out of the 24 stab wounds, it was the ones piercing Mery?s throat and two in the back of her chest, almost two inches deep, which were fatal. Roh even described defensive wounds on Mery's hands that apparently showed she tried to save her own life.

During cross-examination, the defense argued that Mery had a weapon of her own and cut herself. Roh countered saying it was ?hard to imagine, but possible.?

Trovato's attorney did not call any witnesses in her defense, saying there was no need to do that. Prosecutors also say there is DNA evidence tying Trovato to the crime scene. However, her attorney says that evidence is not conclusive. Trovato and her mother had a long-standing argument over Trovato?s daughter, which the prosecution says is a possible motive for the murder.

Jurors will hear closing arguments from both sides Friday and will begin deliberations on Monday.
