Mount Vernon Mayor Richard Thomas says he will remain on the job, one day after being indicted on campaign finance charges.
Thomas is accused of illegally pocketing more than $45,000 in campaign donations, but he continues to say he is innocent.
"We're focused on doing the work of the people. At the end of the day, this is what happens when you start a systematic amount of change,” he said.

Some residents like Beatrice Perez say Thomas should resign.
"If he felt Ernie Davis should resign, he should step down. Sorry, he should definitely step down,” she says.
Other residents say they support Thomas, applaud his ideas for the city and that he’s innocent until proven guilty.
No arraignment date has been set.
