Holiday shopping has given retail sales a much-needed boost after stalling during the pandemic.
Mastercard's SpendingPulse report estimates sales rose about 3% between mid-October and Christmas.
E-commerce rose almost 50% as the pandemic drove online sales.
The report also says many shoppers started making holiday purchases earlier than normal due to stores that rolled Black Friday deals weeks ahead of time.
