There has been a lot of confusion over who should be wearing face masks during the pandemic.

Great Neck Mayor Dr. Pedram Bral says he wants to make it an order in the village that masks or some sort of facial covering be worn by anyone inside any buildings that are open to the public, like grocery stores and government buildings. It's all in a continued effort to control the spread of COVID-19.

The Department of Health told Bral "the denial is without prejudice."

It is following Gov. Andrew Cuomo's directive to not allow any local governments to pass any new laws while New York remains in a state of emergency.

The issue of who should be wearing masks continues to be debated worldwide, with some nations requiring everyone to wear one outside of their homes.

The CDC and WHO has said masks should be worn by people who work in health care facilities and people who test positive for the virus.

"There is no specific evidence to suggest that the wearing of masks by the mass population has any particular benefit," said Dr. Mike Ryan, from WHO.

Bral disagrees and says a large percentage of the people could carry the virus and never show symptoms.

Vice President Mike Pence said, "The White House Coronavirus Task Force has the CDC looking at the issue of masks as a protective measure right now."
