Bronx residents took in the 39th Annual New York City Marathon Sunday at special cheering zones set up throughout the borough.
The stands for spectators were set up along the route of the marathon, which drew more than 2 million fans cheering on over 38,000 runners. Also on hand were 120 live bands and assorted oddball acts along a boisterous, five-borough course.
Organizers provided plenty of hydration along the marathon route, including more than 63,000 bottles of water and 32,000 gallons of Gatorade. Dozens of medical stations were stocked with assorted supplies, including 11,410 pounds of ice.
