Police are searching for two men who robbed a Dunkin' Donuts store at gunpoint in New Rochelle Friday night.
Police say the suspects were wearing ski masks when they struck the coffee shop on Weaver Street just minutes before closing time at around 10 p.m.
According to investigators, one of the suspects who was armed with a gun threatened two employees and demanded cash. A worker handed over $100 to the robbers, who then fled the store.
Dozens of police and SWAT officers from three departments swarmed the Dunkin' Donuts after getting reports of an armed robbery in progress. Initially, there were fears that a hostage was being held inside the coffee shop, and the street was briefly shut down.
When police arrived, it was established that no hostages were taken by the robbers.
The coffee shop reopened Saturday morning, with customers buying their morning coffee and donuts just hours after the hold up.
"We come here all the time,? says Linda O?Meara, of New Rochelle. "I?m very upset to hear that, very upset."
