? Three Con Edison workers are recovering in the hospital after they were injured in an explosion after working below ground in Tarrytown Friday.
Officials say firefighters had just evacuated a strip mall on Route 9 and cleared out carbon monoxide from the area when they called in a utility crew to work on burning wires in a manhole. The Con Edison workers were finishing repairs around 5:30 p.m. when the explosion happened. Firefighters rushed to help the workers, who officials say suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The blast caused traffic to be diverted for several hours, and many homes were without power. Authorities are investigating the official cause of the explosion.
