A man drove himself to Mount Vernon Hospital Thursday morning after getting shot in the neck, a hospital spokesperson says.
According to spokesperson Sal Schiliro, the wounded 30-year-old Yonkers resident arrived in a black Chrysler sedan shortly after 10 a.m., walked into the emergency room and lost consciousness.
The man, whose name has not been released, has been treated for his injury and sedated. Police detectives are now waiting outside of the man?s hospital room to interview him about the attack.
Although investigators are not sure where the man was shot, officers were sent to inspect a two-family house on South 12th Avenue in connection to the incident.
Mount Vernon Police Commissioner David Chong says he is hoping the victim will cooperate with police as soon he awakens. He says it is too early in the investigation to say whether the shooting is connected to gang activity or drugs.
