Westchester County police are investigating after a 55-year-old homeless man?s body was found on the edge of the Bronx River in White Plains Tuesday.
A passerby walking her dog discovered the body on the riverbank near the northbound side of the Bronx River Parkway just before exit 21 around 10:45 a.m. Police say the body was found face down in shallow waters. A bicycle was found near the body on a bike path. Police say there are no obvious signs of foul play and no weapons found nearby. Investigators believe the man fell off the bike and down the embankment into the river.
Police have not yet released the identity of the victim, but say he has a brother who lives in Yonkers and his mother is in a Scarsdale nursing home. The medical examiner's office will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
