NYC man dies in Ulster County skydiving accident

Police say the man's parachute did not open while skydiving on Sunday, and he was found in the parking lot of the Gardiner Fire Department.

A man is dead after an skydiving accident in Ulster County, according to state police.
State Police spokesman Steven Nevel says William McCartin, 40, of New York City, boarded an airplane at the "Skydive the Ranch" facility and jumped out of the airplane at approximately 14,000 feet along with another skydiver.
The witness says that McCartin exited the plane wearing a parachute, but his body was found in the parking lot of the Gardiner Fire Department without a parachute.
State police have not located the parachute and is asking anyone who may have located it or witnessed the incident to contact them at 845-691-2922.
