A man is dead after he crashed his car early Saturday morning. Police say 25-year-old Matthew McDermott, of Connecticut, died instantly when his car hit a tree. The accident happened on the northbound entrance ramp for the Hutchinson River Parkway in Harrison. Rescue workers believe excessive speed was a factor in the crash. Officials say this is a very dangerous intersection and they have responded to two accidents at the same location in the past 24 hours. They say the road is poorly lit and the turn onto the parkway is very tight.
