Reactions continue to pour in after a student at Pine Bush High School recited the Pledge of Allegiance in Arabic Thursday.
As News 12 previously reported, the exercise was supposed to celebrate cultural diversity, but it quickly turned political and some say discriminatory.
School administrators say reciting the pledge in Arabic was part of Pine Bush High School's Foreign Language week, and that they planned to recite it in different languages all week.
The district has received negative reviews about the situation, but one former Pine Bush resident showed his support for the school and foreign language department in a video he created and sent to News 12. In the video, the Pledge of Allegiance is recited in 10 different languages, by 10 different people.
The man says he wanted to show support to the school while promoting cultural tolerance.
News 12 reached out to the Pine Bush School District after administrators held a closed door meeting about the incident, but they refused to comment beyond the apology on their website.
