Man collared in rash of Westchester car mirror thefts
Some Westchester residents hope a man's arrest will bring a rash of car mirror thefts to a screeching halt.
Greenburgh police arrested Bronx resident Jose Santana Jimenes, 18, in connection to the theft of 94 side mirrors. Police say Jimenes stole the mirrors in Greenburgh, Ossining, Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow in a five-day span.
He's accused of selling the parts in Hunts Point, the Bronx for about $30,000.
Police say forensic evidence left at two scenes linked Jimenes to the crimes, which he later confessed to. He's charged with auto stripping and criminal mischief. Authorities are investigating whether Jimenes has connections to auto theft rings.
He's due in court Friday, Jan. 18.
