Authorities say two people were killed in a house fire overnight in the Ulster County town of Shawangunk.
It happened around 12:30 a.m. at a home on Burnt Meadow Road.
Multiple crews responded to the scene, where they found a 9-year-old girl outside the home. The Ulster County sheriff's office says she had been pushed to safety by her father, 50-year-old Joseph Hull.
They say Hull remained inside the home, searching for his other child, age 7.
Crews were able to find both victims and remove them from the home. They were taken to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Foul play is not suspected at this time, the sheriff's office says.
