The Putnam Valley man who was allegedly shot by a process server after a confrontation in 2007 was arraigned Tuesday.
Douglas Greenwich entered a not guilty plea to a four-count indictment, denying all fault on his part.
The incident happened in June 2007, when Greenwich was served divorce papers at his home by Dennis Illuminate, a former Kent police officer and former town board member. Illuminate allegedly shot Greenwich twice, first in self defense, claiming Greenwich came at him with a club. The second time, Illuminate says, was accidental as the two allegedly struggled.
Greenwich denies Illuminate?s story.
?The truth is that I was shot in cold blood in my driveway,? Greenwich says. ?While crawling away to call 911, I was shot in the back.?
Greenwich's teenage son says Illuminate threatened him as well after his father was shot.
?We were pushing each other, and then he pulled out the gun and he was like: ?Do you want me to shoot you like I shot your dad??? Christopher Greenwich says.
Since Illuminate is well known in Putnam County, two judges have thus far recused themselves from serving on the case. Judge Francis Nicholai now has the task of choosing an administrative judge.
The next court appearance date for Greenwich is yet to be determined.
