The man accused of killing his mother and stepfather in their Peekskill home was arraigned Monday on murder charges.
Sources tell News 12 Westchester that 32-year-old Jason Bethea killed his mother Cathy Asero, and stepfather, Thomas Asero, and then set fire to their Lindbergh Avenue house.
Police say they still don?t have a motive for the crime. Firefighters responded to 737 Lindbergh Ave. at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday and discovered the two bodies near the back of their home, according to authorities.
The District Attorney?s Office says the couple died of blunt force trauma to the head and asphyxiation.
The family of Cathy and Thomas Asero say they haven't seen Bethea in five years. Sources tell News 12 Westchester that Bethea was jailed in Peru during that time.
Bethea is expected to be back in court Friday. He was taken to Westchester County Jail and is being held there without bail.
