Mamaroneck High School’s Class of 2020 participated in their graduation ceremony today - on wheels.
The coronavirus pandemic forced school districts nationwide to find new ways to celebrate their seniors. As a result, the community and school organized a mobile parade through the town of Mamaroneck.
Seniors were able to pass their old elementary and middle schools before returning to the high school.
Student Georgia Mackie and her parents displayed excitement despite graduation being non-traditional.
“Obviously, I’d want a traditional graduation, but this is so fun, and I really respect all the effort they’re putting into it," said Mackie. "Trying to make it the best it can be.”
News 12 is told there are about 400 seniors in the 2020 class. The students will retrieve their cap and gowns and yearbooks next week.
