The pipeline from puppy mills to pet stores is officially closed in Mamaroneck.
The village voted unanimously Monday night to ban local merchants from selling any dogs or cats that came from a puppy mill.
"This a warning that it's not OK to use our cats and dogs as merchandise," says Beth McCabe, of the Harrison Pet Shelter.
Mamaroneck officials say it's the first local ordinance banning the use of puppy mills in the state.
