Police: Luring attempt of 13-year-old girl was misunderstanding
Parents in Pleasantville are breathing a little easier today as a possible luring attempt turned out to be a misunderstanding.
Officials say on Tuesday a 13-year-old girl was waiting to get picked up from a sports camp when a man asked her if she needed a ride.
The girl told police the man watched her for a while before driving off. She described him as bald, in his 50s, and driving a dark gray pick-up with red lettering.
Mount Pleasant Police Chief Paul Oliva says officers located the suspect and it turned out to be a concerned grandfather picking up his granddaughter and asked innocently if the girl needed a ride becasue he saw her pacing around.
Oliva says the girl did the right thing by reporting the incident.
