Westchester is mourning the loss of one of its longest-serving officials Friday with the death of former North Castle Town Supervisor Jack Lombardi.
Lombardi, 83, was supervisor for 44 years before he stepped down two years ago. He was the last member of the old Westchester Board of Supervisors still in office and was credited with bringing corporate headquarters, including IBM, to North Castle.
Lombardi had been ill for several months and his condition began deteriorating weeks ago. He is survived by his wife Jane and four children, along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A wake is being held this weekend at the Hawthorne Funeral Home and a funeral will be held Monday, Sept. 8 at 10 a.m. at the Holy Name of Jesus church in Valhalla.
