With a major snowstorm threatening to blanket Westchester Friday, students across the county are holding their breath to see if they will get to stay home.
?I drive to school, so I don't want to have to drive here and then an hour later drive back in bad weather,? says Lakeland High School junior Michelle Ronzoni. ?I'd rather just stay home."
Thomas Cole, assistant superintendent in the Yorktown Central School District, says in preparation for the storm, school officials will check their weather warning system, consult with the police, the Department of Public Works and other districts about whether or not to close the schools.
"We're going to make a decision by five o'clock in the morning," Cole says. "We have certain times when our buses will be on the road, so we need to know in advance of that."
