National Autism Acceptance Month began April 1, and a local nonprofit is marking the start with a new campaign to embrace empowerment.
It's called "Out of the Box" to show that people on the autism spectrum are not put into boxes based on people's assumptions.
Spectrum Designs in Pleasantville hires neurodiverse individuals to create custom apparel and promotional products.
It aims to make the workplace more inclusive for people with special needs.
Over the past few years, News 12 has followed the expansion of the Long Island-based business to Westchester.
CEO Tim Howe says it has grown to employ nearly 80 people, and almost 50 have developmental disabilities.
The Pleasantville campus of Spectrum Designs is currently hiring. You can learn more by clicking here.
