The Elmsford Little League parade celebrates young athletes from all over town whose favorite thing to do is put on their gear and hit the field.
Elected officials, community members, first responders and, of course, the talented young players themselves follow a parade route that leads them to their home field.
The parade celebrates the opening day of the Little League season. The kids were even joined by hometown celebrity and former Mets player Dwight "Doc" Gooden.
"It's fun," says Gooden. "It's always good to take part in Little League opens. It brings back a lot of memories for myself. This is where it all started for me and since I got invited to come here, I was more than excited to take part. I think it's great for the kids."
Organizers say more than 500 kids participate in the program and they are all excited to get the season started.
