Four boaters felt the vibrations of a lightning strike on Lake Mahopac after a storm approached rapidly Wednesday afternoon.
Police say the two men and two women on the 20-foot boat were not hit, but they were sent to Putnam Hospital for evaluation.
The boat lost power and had to be towed in to the Mahopac marina.
There's no official thunderstorm protocol at the marina, but authorities are cautioning boaters to always monitor the weather. They say that in the event of an approaching storm to get off the lake swiftly and safely.
