6h agoIt may be winter, but many pools in the Hudson Valley are already hiring lifeguards for the 2023 summer season.
Gov. Kathy Hochul announced a pay increase for state lifeguards last summer to address the shortage.
Westchester Parks, Sullivan County and Town of Ramapo are all currently hiring lifeguards.
The going rate seems to be $15 to $20 an hour in the area.
Requirements for positions may vary by town, but most require the lifeguard to be at least 15 years old and pass certain tests.
