Students at New Rochelle High School are frustrated after discovering they are being ostracized due to recent violence at their school.
After a number of stabbings in the area, some schools on Long Island are boycotting New Rochelle's annual Model Congress event.
A letter was sent to parents in the Hewlett Woodmere school district saying that students would not be going due to security concerns.
Students at New Rochelle tell News 12 they joined Model Congress to improve their public speaking, gain confidence and make new friends from different schools.
Seniors in the club say they won't get another opportunity because of the stigma against their school.
"They're saying the place where we learn is unsafe," says Andrew Sorota.
The superintendent of New Rochelle schools, Dr. Brian Osborne, has made an offer to his counterparts on Long Island to come and see what the school is about.
While school districts have acknowledged the stepped-up safety precautions in the letter, officials say they don't want to take any chances.
News 12 reached to the Long Island school districts but has not heard back.
