Despite promises from Mount Vernon Mayor Richard Thomas to reopen Memorial Field by summer, work has moved slowly.
So Westchester County Legislator Lyndon Williams is proposing a new plan to restore the landmark.
"Instead of complaining about it, let's talk about a new way of doing it," Williams says.
That new way involves the county taking over to renovate the field, then handing the keys back to the city once the work is done.
In order for the county to take over the restoration, Executive George Latimer would have to sign off on the project.
Residents like Anthony McDowell say that after spending a decade waiting for the park's renovation, they're running out of patience.
