Funeral services were held in Pomona Thursday for the former head of the Rockland Veterans Service Agency and a three-time Purple Heart recipient.
Known as a legend among veterans, Jerry Donnellan, 71, was a United States Army sergeant who lost his leg in Vietnam.
When he came back to his home in Rockland, Donnellan dedicated his life to helping other veterans.
His great-nephew started pegleg22.com, a website named for his uncle, to raise money for struggling veterans.
A military graveside ceremony was held for Donnellan in Pomona, and he was given a 21-gun salute.
