Local lawmakers want you to share the love this Valentine's Day by registering to be an organ donor.
About 10,000 New Yorkers are on waiting lists -- but the state has the lowest rate of donor registration in the country.
State Assemblywoman Sandy Galef says New York should not be lagging so far behind the rest of the country.
"People don't realize one person, in their time of loss, can save eight lives," says Megan Fackler of Live On New York. "It's really the most selfless act you can do."
Hank Goldberg, of Buchanan, has been waiting on a transplant list for almost two years.
"Your health is going to start to decline," he says. "I fight every day I can to stay stable, but it's the unknown."
