State lawmakers have voted to increase penalties for people who commit acts of public lewdness in front of minors.
The bill creates a new charge of first-degree public lewdness if someone who is 19 years or older intentionally exposes intimate body parts in a lewd manner in front of anyone under the age of 16.
The lewdness bill will go to Gov. Cuomo and could take effect by Nov. 1.
