Labor Day weekend killing angers MV residents
People in Mount Vernon say they are fed up after violence on the city streets left a 21-year-old man dead Labor Day weekend.
The victim was just released from jail only to be stabbed to death in what some are calling a revenge killing. Now the community in Mount Vernon's southside is taking action against the violence.
Chanelle Hyde, 22, has taken a special interest in the violence that's devastated the city's southside. Hyde is starting a program called 16 by 16, meaning 16 solutions in the next 16 months.
The program includes putting up more street lights and forming a brand new neighborhood watch program. Hyde says, ? This is about bringing justice to Pasta, Shomari and Corey, all of our loved ones we lost to this senseless violence.?
Police are still looking for witnesses in Sunday's deadly stabbing and are asking anyone with information to call the Mount Vernon Police Department.
