A maintenance worker at an Orange County synagogue is accused of carrying on a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old boy.

Police say 27-year-old Joel Mendlowitz was arrested on Sunday after the boy's father found evidence of the sexual relationship.

Mendlowitz, who worked at a Kiryas Joel temple, allegedly began molesting the boy in the fall of 2013 or earlier.

Mendlowitz is charged with sexual misconduct and endangering the welfare of a child. 

Police say the suspect is out without bail until a court appearance in Monroe next month.

They say Mendlowitz is a synagogue maintenance worker employed by J & W Works on Zenta Road. News 12 was unable to find the business and people News 12 spoke to on the block said they know nothing of the company or Mendlowitz.

Authorities would not release the name of the temple, but said one "incident" involving Mendlowitz allegedly happened along Orshava Court.
