The City of Kingston has received the first of three ARPA affordable housing grants.
According to Mayor Steve Noble, the funding will help create eight new affordable housing units. He says $255,000 will go towards reviving the building at 250 Broadway, which has been vacant for almost 30 years. More than $80,000 will be used for repairing the units inside the residential multiplex at 53 Garden Street. Another $50,000 will go to 58 Clinton Avenue for construction of an accessory dwelling unit.
Across the three projects, the ARPA applicants will use other sources of funding to create a total of 13 housing units.
The final application deadline is Dec. 15.
