In a slightly unusual twist to a familiar story, the Kingston Fire Department undertook a feathered rescue mission Monday afternoon. This time, it wasn't a cat stuck in a tree, but rather a parakeet named Birdie.
According to officials, Birdie had managed to escape through a building window. However, due to his clipped wings, he was unable to achieve full flight. Despite his limited flying capabilities, the parakeet was able to glide into a tree where he found himself stranded.
Fortunately for Birdie, the Kingston Fire Department crew were up to the task. The firefighters were able to safely retrieve Birdie from the tree and return him to his relieved owners.
The department shared details of the rescue mission, further cementing the diversity of their everyday challenges. Whether it's tackling flames or rescuing wayward pets, the Kingston Fire Department is always ready to serve its community.
