Pat Quinn is a fighter.

The Yonkers man diagnosed with ALS when he was only 28 refuses to give up.

The founder of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge shared his struggles and strength with seventh- and eighth-graders at the Family School 32 in Yonkers.

The students raised $700 by selling wrist bands after they read the book 'Tuesdays with Morrie.' The book, by Mitch Albom, tells the story of Professor Morrie Schwartz who suffers from ALS. Like Quinn, he spends his days focusing on the positive. "I know they've been selling bands and raising money. To show support for me is really inspiring," says Quinn.

Reading the book and meeting Quinn had a real impact on the children. "To see him and to get [to] see that he's going strong is really inspiring to see. No matter what's going on in life you can get better," says student Matthew Kenny.

Many of the kids tell News 12 that while there is no cure and no treatment for ALS, they hold out hope that the disease will be conquered.
