A verdict could be reached Friday in the trial of a Yonkers teen charged with fatally shooting a Tarrytown college student. Jurors must decide if 18-year-old Anthony Burton's actions were reckless when he fired the shots that killed Jessica Santos, 19, or if the death was caused by what the prosecution calls a complete disregard for human life. Burton claims he was aiming at a sign above a store when Santos was hit last August. The prosecution says Burton?s actions put dozens of people who were outside the store at risk. Burton?s attorney does not dispute that his client fired the fatal shots, but is seeking a lesser conviction of manslaughter. If Burton is convicted of murder, he could face 15 to 25 years to life.
