A Clarkstown judge has given the owner of two dogs accused of mauling two goats to death more time to hire an attorney.
Judge Howard Gerber says the court will determine whether Ty and Pink constitute as dangerous animals. The lab mixes allegedly killed two pet goats, Poppy and Sunny, last month inside the backyard of a New City home. The yard was surrounded by a 9-foot fence.
The goats' owner, 83-year-old Marie Harrow, says the same dogs killed another pair of her goats two years ago.
Two dozen supporters were present in the courtroom Wednesday, including Harrow's young grandson, who was holding the animals' ashes during the proceedings.
The dogs' owners, Jason and Lauren Feldman, were not interested in speaking on camera. They took off quickly following the court appearance.
Harrow and her family then gathered in their backyard and buried the ashes of her beloved pets.
The dogs are currently being held at a private kennel until the judge decides their fate.
