Job event held in Spring Valley to help immigrants prepare to join workforce
Dozens of immigrants who are living in Rockland County were at Konbit Neg Lakay on Church Street in Spring Valley on Thursday as Ultimate Care held a job event there.

10h agoDozens of immigrants who are living in Rockland County were at Konbit Neg Lakay on Church Street in Spring Valley on Thursday as Ultimate Care held a job event there.
News 12's Diane Caruso spoke with Eflene Franck, a 25-year-old woman from Haiti, who came to the United States two years ago.
Franck says she's ready to get to work now that she has her working papers. “I’m just working to make my dream come true,” said Franck. Ultimate Care, a home health care agency, will employ these people locally for either personal care or home health care services after they complete a week of free training next month.
A bus will be provided to to take them to and from the NY Healthcare School in the Bronx for free, too.
Immigrant Community Center CEO Renold Julien says most of the people in attendance have work permits and Social Security cards.
"As the only immigrant community center here in Rockland County, it is our responsibility to make sure we provide them with what they need," says Julien. He adds they are seeing more immigrants take English classes at the center, too.
