Jerome-Gun Hill to add security cameras
A Bronx neighborhood is getting some extra security.
More cameras are going to be installed in and around the Jerome-Gun Hill Business Improvement District.
A robbery last summer on Jerome Avenue prompted the district to add 10 to 13 more cameras in the commercial area.
At the moment, there are six cameras that run from Webster to Jerome avenues and from Jerome Avenue to East Mosholu Parkway North.
Councilman Andrew Cohen secured $60,000 in funding for the extra cameras.
Merchants in the area say the added security is great for business.
Officers from the 52nd Precinct and Councilman Cohen have already walked through Norwood and identified certain areas in which the cameras will be installed.
The director of the district tells News 12 that the new cameras should be installed by May 2015.
