Jennifer Alcazar, who died from brain cancer, honored at Church Street Elementary School's moving up ceremony
A moving up ceremony at Church Street Elementary School in White Plains this morning held extra meaning for one Westchester family.
In the midst of the celebration, parents, teachers, students and administrators paused for a moment of silence to remember a fifth-grader missing from the ceremony. Back in February, 10-year-old Jennifer Alcazar lost her battle with brain cancer.
Purple ribbons were on display at the graduation to remember the classmate and friend.
Alcazar's still grieving mother accepted her daughter's moving up certificate.
